Collection and Use of Personal Data

When you are asked for information while on this website, you are sharing that information with Beiersdorf, its parent, and its various affiliates and sister companies, unless specifically stated otherwise.  As a result of that sharing, you may receive communications from any of those Beiersdorf affiliates.  In addition, some services offered by Beiersdorf through this website are provided in conjunction with third parties with which Beiersdorf has a business relationship.  If your Personal Information is being collected by a company other than Beiersdorf, you will be so notified at the time that the process for the collection of that Personal Information is initiated. If you do not want to have your Personal Information so shared, please do not elect to use the service or facility for which that Personal Information is collected.

Beiersdorf collects information from you when you register on this website, respond to a survey or to a communication such as an email, or use other services on this website. Those other services may include, for example, the creation of a profile page, participation in forums or the provision of facilities to permit you to post media content such as images and text. Beiersdorf stores that information or may use third parties under contract.

Beiersdorf collects two different types of information: general demographic information and personal identifiable information along with contact details. Beiersdorf uses certain technologies described in Section “Use Of Cookies and Pixels” below to collect information about you. Most of that information is non-identifiable information.

Some of the information that Beiersdorf collects from you is defined as personally identifiable information about an individual, as more particularly described under applicable privacy laws (“Personal Information”). Personal Information may include, without limitation: your name, age, mailing address, email address, telephone number, information concerning your interests, occupation, product uses and preferences, and other demographic information that could help identify you. If you have set up an account that is password protected or for any other purpose for which a password is needed, that password is also part of your Personal Information.

Any other transfer of your personal data, for example the transfer of logon data from our websites to a third party’s social community website or web service like Facebook or Twitter, requires your explicit prior consent. We may, however, have to disclose information about you if we are required to do so by law or in response to enforceable governmental requests.

Use of Personal Data for advertising or marketing purposes

If you expressly agree to the use of your personal data for advertising or marketing purposes, your personal data will also be stored and continuously used for such purposes, e.g. for sending you newsletters, product samples, ask for your participation in competitions or sweepstakes, all via e-mail or post or any other communication channel you consented to. We may use your data to create and maintain a user profile to provide you with individualized advertising and promotions. We may also use the data provided by you for analyzing and improving the effectiveness of our website services, advertising, marketing, market research, and sales efforts.

Use of Cookies and Pixel Tags

A cookie is a small bit of computer code that Beiersdorf sends to your computer and is stored on your hard drive.  It allows a website to transfer bits of information to your computer for record-keeping purposes.  A cookie stored in your computer can be used to “remember” specific data items such as your password or operational information, such as the fact that you have already subscribed to the full version of a particular online game.  That allows Beiersdorf to speed up your future activities, saving the time you would normally spend entering information such as your password or subscription information.  In addition, Beiersdorf may use cookies to retrieve user information for promotional, marketing, or security purposes.

We use AdFrom function on our websites in order to evaluate the use of the website and make it possible for us and other advertisers who co-operate with AdForm to be able to present to you with user-relevant advertising. By using our website, you agree to the AdForm cookie being inserted and thus usage data from you being collected, saved and used in the manner described above for the purpose specified. You moreover agree that your data will be stored in cookies beyond the end of the browser session and can for example be accessed again when you next visit websites. You can revoke this consent at any time with effect for the future by deleting the AdForm cookie and permanently deactivating it.

Pixel Tags, also known as a clear GIF or web beacon, are an invisible tag placed on certain pages of the Site but not on your computer. When you access these pages, pixel tags generate a generic notice of that visit. They usually work in conjunction with cookies, registering when a particular computer visits a particular page. The Company uses pixel tags for Site analytics, site crawling across the Company’s network of sites and to serve you more relevant Content and ads based upon your historical behavioral patterns. If you turn off cookies the pixel tag will simply detect an anonymous Site visit.

This website also uses the Evergage (Salesforce Interaction Studio) tool for personalization purposes. It allows us to display personalized content based on website actions (e.g. click, viewing time, entering a search term) and to better understand the needs of our website visitors. For example, we are then able to show you products that you might like or, as a myNIVEA loyalty program user, send you a message by e-mail if you have forgotten products in your shopping cart.
