Naturally Derived
Organic Ingredients
ONE SKIN. ONE PLANET. ONE CARE.

Naturally derived ingredients, also known as ingredients of natural origin, are made from materials found in nature. They may be derived from plants, such as roots, herbs and flowers, as well as minerals or animal-derived materials. Some are well known, such as aloe vera, while others may be less familiar, such as benzyl alcohol, a preservative that occurs naturally in several plants.
Because these materials undergo processing before being used in cosmetic products, we refer to them as "naturally derived ingredients" or "ingredients of natural origin" rather than simply "natural ingredients". To qualify as naturally derived, an ingredient must retain more than 50% of its molecular structure or natural state after processing.
At NIVEA, we continuously work to increase the use of ingredients of natural origin where appropriate. When developing our formulas, we carefully assess ingredients based on factors such as skin compatibility, product performance and environmental aspects.
