Responsible
Sourcing
ONE SKIN. ONE PLANET. ONE CARE.
At NIVEA, many of the ingredients and materials we use in our products come from renewable natural resources. That is why responsible sourcing is such an important part of our approach.
We work with suppliers and recognized sourcing standards to improve transparency and traceability across our supply chains, and to support responsible sourcing practices for key raw materials.

NIVEA is engaged in a sustainable palm (kernel) oil economy that does not support the deforestation of rainforests. Since the end of 2020, we have only been using palm (kernel) oil-based ingredients from sustainably certified sources. This applies to 100 percent of our products worldwide.

Responsible sourcing is an important part of our approach. Since 2019, Beiersdorf has supported initiatives in Ghana and Burkina Faso that promote transparency in the shea supply chain and support the women involved in shea nut collection and processing.

We use paper and cardboard as natural packaging materials. With certification from the “Forest Stewardship Council” (FSC), we make sure that wood-based products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits. Since 2019, 100 percent of our folding boxes have been made from FSC-certified material.
At NIVEA, we expect respect for human rights throughout our value chain. We work with employees, suppliers and business partners who are committed to acting responsibly and in line with our standards for ethical business conduct. Our approach is guided by internationally recognised principles, including the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Global Compact.
