NIVEA Creme
belongs
We still remember the days when you could always find a tin in Granny’s bathroom, and when Mum had one tucked into her handbag. The blue tin has become a cherished part of family life across generations – in 190 countries around the world – and is more in demand today than ever.
One cream:
so many possibilities

More than a hundred years ago, alongside Eucerit, NIVEA Creme also contained glycerin, water, a touch of citric acid and its delicate fragrance. This effective formula has been carefully adapted and refined over the decades.

the skin and soul
If you want to do something truly good for yourself, this cream is a must‑have. With its firm consistency, every moisturising moment becomes a nurturing ritual for your body and soul. Gentle caresses are essential to feeling content – they give babies a sense of closeness and security. When we are not touched, we feel that something is missing. Research shows that a child’s emotional and mental development is supported by human contact. And applying cream is also a way of taking time to focus on yourself.
Experience and expertise,
research and development
Since our company was founded, we have been dedicated to caring for your skin. We create highly effective products that work in harmony with the skin’s own functions, so your skin receives exactly what it needs.
better skin care for everyone
When NIVEA first came into the world more than 100 years ago, all of the research was carried out by just three people: Dr Oscar Troplowitz, Prof. Paul Gerson Unna and Dr Isaac Lifschütz. Today, over 500 researchers and developers work with us to unlock the complex processes within the skin and to create ever new, effective skin care products. Over the decades, this has led to many pioneering innovations – from our skin cream and body lotion to sun cream with SPF, a dedicated men’s range, pump sprays, skin care for mature skin and even anti‑ageing products with Q10. Throughout, it has always been important to us to meet our customers’ needs and wishes. By engaging in direct dialogue, we have been able to develop products that stand for outstanding quality and are trusted wholeheartedly.

This cream
writes history
Before NIVEA Creme became a success story, something else very different had to be invented: Eucerit. Eucerit acts as an emulsifier, combining oil and water into an extremely fine, stable mixture. Fortunately, by 1911 Dr Isaac Lifschütz had developed this completely new emulsifier. Dermatologist Professor Paul Gerson Unna valued Dr Lifschütz’s expertise and presented his discovery to Dr Oscar Troplowitz, chemist and co‑founder of Beiersdorf. He immediately recognised that this water‑in‑oil emulsion was the ideal base for a cosmetic skin cream. All that was missing now was a name. To find it, Dr Troplowitz simply looked at the cream itself. Once the emulsion was finished, it had a snow‑white colour. The name NIVEA is derived from the Latin “nix, nivis”, meaning snow – so NIVEA translates as “snow white”.
